e-skills are a central aspect of European policies to boost competitiveness, productivity and employability of the workforce. Europe needs to ensure that the knowledge, skills, competences and inventiveness – including but not limited to ICT professionals – meet the highest global standards and that they are constantly updated in a process of effective lifelong learning.
The workshop will for the first time present and discuss the main results of this study focussing both on the current situation and on likely future developments of the ICT workforce in Europe and the EU Member States. Scenarios and forecasts of possible futures until 2015 will be presented which are based on an extensive analysis of existing statistical data on demand and supply factors and on a survey of e-skills experts.

The workshop is organised by empirica and IDC Government Insights on behalf of the European Commission's DG Enterprise and brings together key stakeholder, policy makers and government representatives, researchers and professionals who face these issues in their work
